They're loyal and in some cases, that's where they end up on the short end of the deal. Your teacher tells you to grow a backbone so you won't be pushed down that easily and stand up for yourself. But it's hard to do that when you're feeling what the other person or thing is feeling. How can you do something so cruel knowing the feeling that will come to them that you have felt yourself? You can't change yourself. You can either bare the pain and somehow manage to still get up when you hit the ground hard or forever be doomed.
