Reading Gives Us Someplace To Go When We Have To Stay Where We Are
You cracked open a book. The smell of it makes your nose crinkle, but you move pass it, anticipating the experience it'll bring you. Reading the first paragraph, you make your decision to move on or to dump it, bored from it already. Children don't read as much as they used to. They're always on their mobile devices or electronic devices playing games on apps that seems to be out of this world. From a generation that would always read and be read to fall asleep has mostly abandoned books. Pages left crisp and new. Book spines not cracked. Words left unsaid. Adventures left unheard. News and historic events left to be forgotten by ones who claims it's important to still remember. A paradise that would never become someone's escape. A book gives us a break from reality when we can no longer take it anymore. It gives history an opportunity to relive itself. Reading gives us a world to explore. It also gives us understanding of the unknown, to eliminate the fear of the now-known. We don't need to pack our bags and get on an airport to go half way around the world. Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.
